You are probably asking yourself where I got the name for my blog. Why Cows Can’t Fly? Why not Chickens Don’t Dance? Or Snakes Won’t Bite?

Cows Can’t Fly, by David Milgrim, happens to be the title of one of my favorite books. It’s the tale of a young boy who draws a picture with cows in the sky instead of birds. Of course, everyone tells him cows can’t fly. However, when the wind blows his picture into a cow pasture, the cows see it and they take flight! No one else sees the cows flying except the little boy. He gets inspired to draw another picture and heads to the zoo!

I love the idea that anything can happen if you just imagine it! I want my students (and my own children) to be just like that young boy and those cows. I want them to think outside the box — to dream big. I want them to believe that anything IS possible. I want them to be the dreamers, the thinkers and the flying cows of the world!

  1. Welcome to the Slice of Life Community! As someone who has been slicing for four years, I know you will make lots of great friends this month! Love the story of your blog’s title– I want to look for this book!

  2. This is far from boring, Candice. I love how you described your book inspiration and then gave us more inspiration with your conclusion. Imagination is a powerful thing. So glad you have joined this community.
